Tracy and Richard were married on March 19th, with a ceremony and reception at Cal Aero Events in Chino, California.
Richard is an engineer, Tracy is a teacher, and both of them are adventurers. They love to travel, and they wanted their wedding to reflect that and also symbolize their many adventures still to come, since they both quit their jobs to embark on a year-long trip around the world after the wedding. So of course, Cal Aero Events was the perfect choice for a venue.
There were so many airplanes in use for this wedding, not least because the whole thing was held in a nicely decorated airplane hangar where they were able to pose for pictures by vintage airplanes. Tracy also arrived by airplane for the ceremony, which I loved! And while we were shooting portraits, we were so lucky for a plane to fly above us at just the right moment. There were plenty of opportunities to capture low-flying planes, but this was by far my favorite.
One of my favorite shots of the day happened as Tracy was getting ready for the day. I went up the stairs to capture the architecture with her in the center, and she looked up at just the right moment for a perfect shot!
Then, it was off to the wedding, which had a very country fair feeling to it. They had a caricature artist, balloonists, a magician, and many other fun and interactive activities for the guests to participate in. And for the garter toss, they had a mini basketball scrimmage instead of tossing the garter. I’d never seen that before, and I loved it!
Of course, I’ve got to give a shoutout to my team for this wedding. Sherry Walti was my second shooter, and she captured so many amazing “in the moment” pictures, while Teresa Tover was my lighting assistant who made so many of the portraits possible!
Thank you, Richard & Tracy, for the chance to be part of your adventures. Good luck on your trip around the world!
